Now that the New Year is here, we’re all thinking about goals for 2015. It’s no surprise that getting fit and losing weight are among the most popular resolutions. But when it comes to fitness goals, it can be difficult to tell fact from fiction. Common misconceptions and myths can get in the way of our fitness success.

“I need to spend at least one hour in the gym to see results.” Absolutely NOT! Research shows you can actually achieve better results doing 15 minutes of interval training three times a week.
“I’m exercising, so I can eat whatever I want.” Think again. Diet is still important, so if you want to lose weight, you’ll need to eat fewer calories than you burn in your daily workout routine.
“If I eat organic or gluten-free, I’ll lose weight.” Not true. While there are many benefits, as with any diet plan, make sure to evaluate your overall caloric intake – you can still over eat.
“Fitness shakes are only for bulking up.” Not necessarily. Fitness shakes are actually a great way to maintain the healthy diet necessary to reach individual fitness goals whether that is weight loss or muscle gain.

This was really cool and I wanted to share the news! Khan Academy just launched Pixar in a Box, a behind-the-scenes look at Pixar Animation Studios’ creative process. It’s a Free online curriculum that shows how Pixar filmmakers use science, technology, engineering, art and math to create movie magic.
Through a series of video lessons, interactive exercises, and hands-on activities, students will discover how the academic concepts they learn in school enable Pixar filmmakers to create new worlds, animate unique characters and tell stories through animation. Although designed especially for students in middle and high school, these resources are available to learners of all ages, completely free of charge.
“Our mission at Khan Academy is a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere,” said Sal Khan, Founder and CEO of the not-for-profit Khan Academy. “Sparking student interest in math and other academic fields is a key part of that, and we’re delighted to collaborate with Pixar to achieve this goal. Pixar in a Box gives students a new way to engage with key academic concepts and see how creative these concepts can be.”
Khan and Catmull officially unveiled Pixar in a Box at a special event yesterday evening on the Pixar campus in Emeryville, CA. After an introduction from Klaidman, local educators learned the story behind the project and then received a live demonstration of Pixar in a Box from two of its creators – Brit Cruise, Content Producer at Khan Academy, and Tony DeRose, Senior Scientist and Research Group Lead at Pixar. The evening concluded with a question-and-answer session moderated by Klaidman.
“Many students start to lose interest in academics in middle and high school, partly because they don’t see how academic concepts relate to things they care about,” said DeRose. “Pixar in a Box aims to address this disconnect by showing how Pixar filmmakers use these concepts for creative benefit in their everyday work.”
Starting today, students can access Pixar in a Box and learn:
· How combinatorics are used to create crowds, like the swarm of robots in WALLŸE.
· How parabolas are used to model environments, like the forest in Brave.
· How weighted averages are used to create characters, like Buzz Lightyear and Woody.
· How linear and cubic interpolation are used to animate characters.
· How trigonometry is used to create the worlds in which Pixar stories take place.
· How simultaneous equations are used to paint all of Pixar’s images.
“These lessons are the first phase of the project,” said Cruise. “While the first year focuses on math, future Pixar in a Box lessons will explore science, computer science, arts, and humanities.”

It’ has won awards for the best waterpark, best waterpark ride, and best new ride. Schlitterbahn has been the birthplace of nearly every waterpark ride innovation including the world’s first uphill water coaster and the inland surfing ride, the Boogie Bahn.
Schlitterbahn was Green before Green was cool: Schlitterbahn, which was born on the banks of a river, has always been a steward of the water in the park. 98% of the water is recaptured, filtered, and reused all season. I have 4 shades to share with you…
Daredevil was hands down my favorite of the 4 I received…if you spot it and love pinks grab it before its gone! This is a neon pink with a shimmer throughout. I used 2 coats…
Love Sprinkles is a Limited Edition glitter top coat for Valentine’s Day! Love Sprinkles contains pale pink hexagons and white hearts. I used 1 coat of Love Sprinkles over Dare Devil. I did have to fish for the heart I got in these photos…but I think once I use it a bit more, I will have no problem getting them out.
GoGo Girl is the perfect candy apple red. Red is my second favorite nail color to use…the Love Sprinkles would look fab on top of GoGo Girl too! I used 2 coats.
I’ve never really been a blue fan, it’s just not my color…but I LOVE this teal Rise & Shine color! It might not be your traditional valentines day color, but it would really look great on a v-day night out. I used 2 coats.
I am happy with the 4 shades I received. Daredevil is the stand out for me and a must have for pink lovers. Love Sprinkles is limited edition, so if you see it and think you might want it…grab it so you don’t miss it.
