If you have a girl chances are she loves to play with dolls…I know I loved to play with barbie when I was a little girl, but now days they have so many more options to choose from. By now i’m sure you’ve heard of & seen the Monster High Dolls…
Monster High is an American fashion doll franchise created by Mattel and launched in July 2010. The characters are inspired by monster movies, sci-fi horror, thriller fiction, and various creatures thus distinguishing them from most other fashion dolls on the market.
The dolls are approximately 27 cm tall. Their bodies are made from ABS plastic, and their heads are made from soft PVC. The dolls have many skin tones, including abnormal ones such as blue, green, and pink. All female dolls have rooted saran hair, however, male dolls have flocked or hard, colored plastic hair. Each doll has their own unique fashion style and personality and each have various attributes of the monsters they are related to (i.e., fangs, stitches, wolf ears, fins, bandages, snakes, etc.). Each doll comes packaged with accessories such as a pet, a purse, diary, doll stand and hair brush and sometimes an extra outfit. The pets, diaries and purses are unique to each character. However, accessories vary from one line to another and some lines do not come with any accessories included.
I’ve seen some people hate them and some people love them. I myself love them! I think they are so cool and while I don’t have little girls would buy them for my nieces who are getting old enough for dolls like this. These are super fun dolls that I know I would have collected as a girl (maybe I still will :P). Perfect gift for the little girl who loves to play with dolls!

Disclosure: I was contacted by Mothers Against Drunk Driving to help reach parents to give them the tools they need to talk with their children about the dangers of underage drinking. Ahh, it’s the weekend time to sit back relax and have a few drinks…but If your kids are like mine they are always asking what your drinking and why if it’s bad, do I do it. You might think they are too young to understand “adult drinks” & the dangers of underage drinking, but, research shows children start weighing the pros and cons of underage drinking as early as age 8.
We’re sure to discuss the effects and why it is an adult only drink every time, even with our younger ones who are more of the inquisitive ones. I was a proud member of SADD when in high school and am proud to be working with MADD to share their Power of Parents program!
MADD developed its Power of Parents® program to help parents feel more confident about talking with their children about the dangers of underage drinking. PowerTalk 21®, April 21st, is the annual day for parents to start talking with their children about alcohol.

A MADD and Nationwide Survey showed that one-third of parents believe the ages they should start talking with their children about alcohol are 14-18, in high school. But, research shows children start weighing the pros and cons of underage drinking as early as age 8.
One in four middle school students have tried alcohol by the end of 8th grade.
Parents remain the biggest influence on their teens not to drink, even more so than their teens’ friends.
Teens are 80 percent less likely to drink if parents deliver a clear no alcohol before 21 message.
A common misperception is that drugs are the leading harm when alcohol is still the number one drug of choice of youth and underage drinking kills more people than all other illegal drugs combined.

You know exactly what your baby is eating – none of the dreaded “fillers” commonly found in commercial baby food

You can “tailor make” your baby’s food to best suit his/her preferences and needs
You will save money. These homemade baby food recipes cost a fraction of the price of ready made foods
And most importantly … making your own baby food is tremendously satisfying – for you AND your baby.
It’s not nearly as time-consuming as you might think! On the baby food preparation and storage page you’ll learn how to prepare batches of food quickly and easily.
Your baby might be ready for solids if he/she:
Sits up alone, without assistance
Consistently seems hungry after a full feeding
Shows interest in or grabs at your food
Can refuse food by turning head
Has outgrown reflex to spit out solid food
My Sparkling Life recommends introducing one food at a time, waiting at least 3-4 days before introducing another food. Watch closely for adverse reactions such as excessive gas, diarrhea, vomiting or a rash. If there is a reaction, discontinue food and wait at least 2 more weeks before reintroducing the food.
Sweet and delicious, it’s sure to please your little one’s palette. And the recipe could not be easier!
1 package frozen organic peas*
½ cup water
Place frozen peas in steamer. (If you don’t have a steamer, place metal colander over a pot of boiling water and cover.) Steam peas for 6-7 minutes or until tender.
Remove cooked peas from steamer/colander and put in food processor. Add water and process until completely smooth.
Once cooled, distribute mixture evenly amongst ice cube trays or cupcake tins, dependent upon desired portion size. When ice cubes are frozen, remove cubes from tray and store in a resealable plastic freezer bag or freezer container. Label package with contents and date. Use within 1 month. Before serving, let thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
*You can substitute frozen peas with fresh, but I’ve found the quality is exactly the same and it’s much less labor intensive to use the pre-shelled frozen peas. And we busy moms need all the time-savers we can get!
2-3 medium sweet potatoes
1/3 cup water
¼ tsp. fresh ground cinnamon (optional, for babies at least 6 months old)
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for babies at least 6 months old)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place washed sweet potatoes directly on a baking sheet, lined with aluminum foil. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until sweet potatoes are completely tender. Set aside to cool.
Once sweet potatoes are cool, peel off skin and cut into large chunks. Place sweet potatoes in food processor, add water, cinnamon (optional) and vanilla (optional) and puree until completely smooth. Add more water if necessary, to achieve desired consistency.
Distribute mixture evenly amongst ice cube trays or cupcake tins, dependent upon desired portion size.
Go get your green on with this yummy vegetable staple! Their mild flavor ensures little ones will gobble up their greens!
