Monster Jam Corpus Christi Review

Before having boys, I never imagined I’d be watching and enjoying the things that I do now…Monster Jam is one of those things…Last weekend we got to enjoy Monster Jam at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Tx.  I was a little disappointed that hubby couldn’t get off early enough to enjoy the pits with us, but we went early with out him anyways.  We paid the $5 event parking, anxiously walked up to the event center, got up to the doors and got in in no time!  They did check my bag and I was told that I couldn’t use my “professional” camera..which if you know me, really bummed me out..it goes everywhere with me!  I went to check it in at guest services and she told me to just not use my 75-300 lens, but I could use my camera and the 50mm that was on it..I was still a little bummed only because the whole point was to zoom in and get some great shots.   – I was provided passes to the show by Feld Entertainment as compensation for this post, however all opinions and images are 100% my own – Anyways after that whole ordeal..we made our way into the arena…the boys were in awe when we walked in and saw 8 Monster trucks and all the booths set up.  We slowly made our way around the arena checking things out, then decided to jump in the lines and get autographs… The first one we got in was for El Diablo.  El Diablo was suspended from the ceiling of the arena as to show off the whole design and make for a better picture opportunity…It didn’t take long to make it through the line..we were handed Metro PCS bags with a coloring page & crayons in it..this is what we had the drivers sign as a souvenir.  Since Metro PCS was sponsoring the event they were heading up this booth and did complementary pictures..yes, I’m finally in a picture! After this booth we made our way to Chris’s favorite Wolverine…this line didn’t take very long either and the driver Aaron Basl..he was super nice and was more than happy to pose with the boys for a picture! Then we visited Zombie, and while we were in that line we noticed they closed the Grave Digger line..which was one we really wanted to hit!  About the same time we saw hubby walking up!  YEA he made it!  Then they reopened the Grave Digger line…it was like the clouds parted!  So my oldest took off with my husband to get in the Grave Digger line, because hes wanted to meet him since he was a little kid..30 years of waiting and its finally happening Little man and I stood for a few more min to meet Sean Duhon and get a photo..one of my favorites I must say! After that great photo, we joined the bigger boys waiting to meet Grave Digger…they finally got up there, and didn’t get to have a “photo opp” mostly because they were trying to push people through because there were so many wanting to meet him.  The driver today was Pablo Huffaker, he really was a nice guy and even signed hubbys hat and really made his day.  After we got our things signed the boys posed in front of grave digger excitedly! Yes we were minus one boy..he decided to go stay at grandmas for a few weeks, so he missed out on all the fun…We then went and got two final signatures before heading up to our seat, because the pit party was over..boo..we had pretty good seats that were in the mezzanine, second row just off center.  We waited for an hour before the show would start, the boys were getting antsy like I knew they would..but that’s the risk I took getting to do the pit party…well worth it!  I went a purchase a cotton candy that came with a sweet Grave Digger hat and a lemonade that came in a cup shaped like stacked tires.  It was finally time for the show to start!  They started off with a few quad races..then brought in the Monster Jam trucks who circled the arena and reved up the audience.  They got started right away showing off their skills flying in the air wowing the audience. After watching them through several competitions…I realized these poor guys need a larger auditorium…this place is too tiny for them…during the donut competition..they were having trouble getting going because of the area they had to do it in..and Grave Digger flipped…exciting yes..but…oh, well..it was exciting..lol I mean look at that smiling face!

It was a great night watching giant trucks try to beat each other in stunts and race time.  I can’t wait till they return so we can watch it all over again!
