Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitors’ interest, which backfires horribly.
Jurassic World will be released in 3D by Universal Pictures on June 12, 2015.

THE GOOD DINOSAUR opens in theatres everywhere on November 25th!

While that attitude of suffering-through and not making a fuss can be admirable, it isn’t always the smart thing to do. Sure, as we age, our body starts to break down in little ways and we may find ourselves dealing with pesky little annoyances that, while uncomfortable, aren’t life-threatening. But there are also times when we should be seeing a doctor to get treatment, even if the problem we’re dealing with isn’t one that seems serious. If it causes you pain, affects your quality of life, or seems to be getting progressively worse, you should see a healthcare professional.
Here are some examples:
Hearing Loss
If you spent most of your youth blasting rock and metal on cheap headphones, went to a lot of concerts and pretty much neglected your ear health, it may be no surprise that you’re suffering from diminished hearing capacity now. Hearing issues can also be exacerbated by allergies/chronic illness, certain medications and genetics.
But no matter what the reason for your hearing loss, and no matter to what degree you’re suffering from it, you should see a doctor to find out about treatment. Taking the time to speak to a professional and learn more about the types of hearing aids, surgeries and treatments available to help restore your hearing (or even just to utilize resources for those whose issues are more chronic or untreatable) can positively impact your life. Sure, you could just live with the problem, but why should you? Call a doctor to talk about your hearing loss.
Vision Loss
Just as hearing problems ramp up as we get older, so can vision issues. Some people find that they are genetically predisposed to diminishing vision as they age; others’ issues are hampered by outside factors, injury or illness. Whatever the reason, getting to an eye doctor for a proper exam and a prescription should be your first course of action.
Many people put off eye exams because they worry they’re admitting to some type of age-related frailty; they worry about the cost, or they simply don’t want to admit the problem is that bad. Truth is, most eye exams and glasses are reasonably affordable, evne for those who aren’t insured. And there’s no reason to suffer through bad vision and all the risks associated with just because you’re reluctant to get glasses.
Anxiety/Depression
Mental health issues aren’t unique to young people, or to old people for that matter. It’s something we all deal with. Yet, many older people are more reluctant to get treatment for their mental health problems. Whether this is due to stigma in older generations, an unwillingness to spend money on what they see as “unnecessary” care, or reluctance to admit they need help (probably a combination of the three) is unclear. But you should see someone – whether that’s a therapist, psychologist, general practitioner or whoever you feel comfortable with) to discuss the problems you’re facing. They will be discreet and help you work through your feelings, prescribing you treatments and possibly medications to help you get through your struggles.

These are just three areas in which you should not neglect your health, no matter how “frivolous” you might think it is. Taking care of all aspects of your health is just as important as taking care of the more pressing matters.

St. Patrick’s Day wouldn’t be complete without a lovely loaf of Irish Soda Bread. This recipe makes a beautiful high loaf of bread dotted with sweet raisins. It doesn’t last long at our house this time of year. *Printable version below
Ingredients 1/2 C white sugar 4 C all-purpose flour….divided 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 3/4 tsp salt 3 C raisins or Cranberries (optional) ​1 Tbsp caraway seeds (optional) 2 eggs, lightly beaten 1 1/4 C buttermilk
1 C sour cream
Directions -Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
-Grease a 9 inch round baking or cake pan.
-In a mixing bowl, combine flour (reserve 1 tablespoon), sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, raisins (optional) , and caraway seeds (optional)
-In a smaller bowl, blend eggs, buttermilk, and sour cream.
-Stir the liquid mixture into the flour mixture just until flour is moistened.
-Knead dough in bowl about 10 to 12 strokes.
-Dough will be sticky.
-Place the dough in the prepared pan and pat down. -Cut a 4 x 3/4 inch deep slit in the top of the bread.
-Dust with 1 Tbsp flour.
-Bake in preheated oven for 65 to 75 minutes.
-Let cool and turn bread out onto a wire rack.
