Growing up in Texas football is King and you’re either a Longhorn or Aggie…okay there are more schools, but that seems to be what it always comes down to…and well living in Austin I was a Longhorn. I loved attending my high school games and was excited when I was able to attend the longhorn games several times throughout high school.
Since the college I attended didn’t have football I’ve had to settle for watching my teams on TV. Now that my oldest is in 7th grade and playing I get to get back into those uncomfortable stands and cheer on a whole new team. The boys love watching football themed movies so I know they are going to love this new one from the writer of Rudy and Hoosiers…My All American.
What Freddie Steinmark wants most in the world is to play football. Mini Turkey Meatballs
1 (20-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Lean Ground Turkey
1 small onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 egg
¼ cup dried breadcrumbs
3 tablespoons ketchup
¼ cup chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
26 ounces tomato marinara sauce
In large bowl, combine turkey, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, parsley, cheese and pepper. Shape mixture into 1 ¼-inch diameter meatballs. In skillet over medium-high heat, cook meatballs 14 to 16 minutes, turning occasionally. Always cook to well-done, 165°F. as measured by a meat thermometer.
Add marinara sauce. Stir to coat meatballs. Turn heat to medium-low and simmer, 15 to 20 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly and flavors blend.
Always cook to an internal temperature of 165°F

Turkey Butter Sliders
Turkey Butter Burger Sliders
4 tablespoons butter, divided
3 large onions, thinly sliced
½ cup water
1 (20-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Lean Ground Turkey
6 slices American cheese, quartered
12 soft slider buns, split and toasted
lettuce leaves
In large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat; add onions. Cook 10 minutes or until onions are golden brown. Add water. Cover. Cook 10 minutes or until onions are very soft, stirring occasionally.
Divide ground turkey into 12 equal balls. Press 1 teaspoon butter into each ball. Shape into patties. Place in large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook 8 minutes covered, turning twice and internal temperature reaches 165°F. as measured by meat thermometer. Always cook to well-done. Top each patty with two cheese pieces.
Place lettuce on bottom halves of buns. Top with onion mixture and patties; replace bun tops. –
Always cook to an internal temperature of 165°F.

Cheesy Turkey Frank Wraps
Cheesy Turkey Franks Wrapped
1 (6-ounce) portion refrigerated pizza dough
1 ½ ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
1 (12-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Turkey Franks
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon barbeque sauce
1 teaspoon mustard
Heat oven to 425°F. On lightly floured surface, roll dough into 12 x 4-inch rectangle. Cut rectangle into 4 (4 x 3-inch) rectangles; cut each rectangle in half diagonally to form 8 triangles. Divide cheese evenly on triangles.
Place turkey frank at wide end of each triangle; roll up. Arrange rolls on baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake 12 minutes or until golden.
In small bowl, combine ketchup, barbeque sauce and mustard. Serve with rolls.

More often than not, your family and close friends will want what is best for you. That is why it is a good idea to open up the conversation with them. Don’t be worried about burdening them, or over-analyze what they may think. Instead, think about what you would want them to do if they were in your shoes. You would want them to reach out to you so that you could help and support them, so that is exactly what you should do.
There is no need for you to tell a lot of people, just seek out the person that you can trust the most and tell them as much or as little as you want. Sharing your problem can take a weight off your shoulders because you are no longer carrying this secret around with you. It is also a great first step to getting the help you need, and they will be able to help you find the right way to help you care for your mind and body.
Reach out to support services
If you are unable to reach out to your family or friends or feel like you need a bit of extra support, you should try and seek out your local support services. There may be a group that you can attend full of people going through similar things or a service that can find you the help that you need. There are even phone services you can call, usually for free, if you are particularly struggling and need someone to right then and there. This is also a good option if you are worried about going to see people in person.
Go to a rehab center
There may seem like there is a lot of stigma around rehab facilities, but they can be excellent facilities that can give you the level of help that you might need. You don’t even need to get fully hospitalized. You could find a partial hospitalization program that offers the structure of an inpatient drug rehab, but with a bit more freedom so that you can benefit from the help without feeling stuck with rigid rules.
Don’t forget that asking for help does not mean that you are weak. In fact, it can be one of the strongest things that you will do. Don’t listen to any of the stigmas around getting help, because it is the thing that is best for you and what everyone who cares about you would want you to do.
