This past weekend at the D23 EXPO in Anaheim, CA, Disney, Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm presented their live-action film slates! Met with enthusiasm from the excited, fan-filled audience, the lively presentations revealed exclusive news and details about upcoming live-action films and showcased surprise live and video appearances from stars and filmmakers. Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn hosted the highly anticipated biennial event.

After welcoming the crowd to D23 Expo 2017, Horn introduced Sean Bailey, President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, to present overviews of the Disney live-action slate. Later Horn returned to the stage to introduce writer/director Rian Johnson for a look at Lucasfilm’s upcoming film and ended by introducing Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, for a rousing presentation to close the event.
Sean Bailey welcomed A WRINKLE IN TIME cast members Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling and Chris Pine along with newcomer Storm Reid and visionary director Ava DuVernay to the D23 stage, where they thrilled fans with a first look at the film’s teaser trailer and teaser poster. The film, which is an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic, takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and ultimately, the triumph of love.
Meg Murry (Storm Reid) is a typical middle school student struggling with issues of self-worth who is desperate to fit in. As the daughter of two world-renowned physicists, she is intelligent and uniquely gifted, as is Meg’s younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), but she has yet to realize it for herself. Starring Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, newcomer Mackenzie Foy as Clara, Helen Mirren as Mother Ginger, Morgan Freeman as godfather Drosselmeyer, and featuring a special performance by Misty Copeland, the movie is inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale. THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS is directed by Lasse Hallström and produced by Mark Gordon and Larry Franco.
The film largely takes place in a strange and mysterious parallel world—home to Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. But it’s the ominous Fourth Realm where Clara must take on a tyrant called Mother Ginger as well as a gang of mice who’ve stolen a coveted key from Clara.
Said Bailey, “The Mouse King is made up of thousands of mice—a cutting-edge CG creation. To the delight of D23 fans, Emily Blunt, the star of Disney’s sequel MARY POPPINS RETURNS, took to the stage with director/producer Rob Marshall to talk about the eagerly-anticipated return of the practically-perfect nanny. In this original musical sequel to the 1964 “Mary Poppins,” Mary and her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter played by Lin-Manuel Miranda, embark on entirely new adventures with the next generation of the Banks family to help them find the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

The film also stars Ben Whishawas Michael Banks, Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen, with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary’s William Weatherall Wilkins and Meryl Streepas Mary’s eccentric cousin Topsy. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady and Dick Van Dyke as Mr. Dawes Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.MARY POPPINS RETURNS is directed by Rob Marshall. D23 Expo 2017 fans were greeted from across the pond by visionary filmmaker Tim Burton, who is busy directing his next project—a live-action reimagining of Disney’s 1941 animated classic DUMBO. “’Dumbo’ was always one of my favorite Disney films,” said Burton. “We’re trying to give it the same heart, feeling and emotion that we all loved about the original.”
The film stars Colin Farrell as Holt Farrier, a former circus star and war-veteran charged with the care of a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock of an already struggling circus. Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins were cast as Holt’s children, who discover that Dumbo can fly. Danny DeVito portrays circus owner Max Medici who tries to capitalize on the novelty. And Michael Keaton is persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere who swoops in with aerial artist Colette Marchant, portrayed by Eva Green, to make Dumbo a star. With Halloween right around the corner we think about two things…Candy & Costumes! With three boys we are always invited to some sort of Halloween get together…I recently had the opportunity to do a costume review from HalloweenCostumes.com. I let my oldest pick out an outfit to review…there was so many choices we were litterly looking and deciding for over an hour! He ended up deciding on a Ninja outfit…then it was down to 10 different ninja outfits… finally we picked the perfect one… i thought us girls took a while to pick an outfit..lol…He ended up picking the Kids Arctic Force Ninja Costume. He was super excited and couldn’t wait for it to come in! Every knock at the door, and every package he was like “is it mine?!” Finally came HIS package…he couldn’t wait to tear it open and try it on…he was even more excited at the fact that it came just in time for the Halloween School function that night! I really like the fast shipping, you just don’t get that a lot these days! The costume is made of a quality fabric, and fits him well. I’m sure after all the parties and trick-or-treating is done it will still have many more days of around the house play! I’m sure my middle one will be able to wear it next year which always make a mom of multiple children happy…

12 Things No One Tells You About Raising Boys

Growing up I always pictured having one boy and one girl..the best of both worlds..right?…and after my first being a son, I started to see tutus and glitter in my sleep!
But god had other plans for us!!
The next three “lets have a baby” ended up with blue and more blue…Now I am a mother to 4 BOYS! I used to be the girly girl who loved shopping, cute shoes & talking on the phone..now I dread shopping, am happy with my flip flops and forget my phone at home half the time.
Who the hell am I?!
I think being a mother of boys changes you..not for better or worse..just changes you. You have to adapt to your new surroundings (the frat house)…I LOVE MY BOYS & would not have at any other way! But there are just some things that I never knew to expect in raising boys.
1. They ARE Dramatic! I always get the “oh your so lucky, girls are so dramatic”…News flash! Boys are too!! Lordy if I had a quarter for every door slam, shout, stomp or eye roll I would be a millionaire! I’m not sure why everyone thinks boys are so well behaved and polite…maybe it’s just because of normal upsetting things happening…like not getting 1st player on the PlayStation, or not getting to keep the cheap fast food toy they got a year ago (that they never play with)..you would think the world was ending!
And don’t get me started on the NOT flushing!
2. You Will Lose! The battle over the toilet has been a long one…and well, I have admitted defeat! It’s easier to just keep the seat up, one, because I’m tired of saying it…and two, because…I’m tired of sitting in pee! And don’t get me started on the NOT flushing! Maybe they just like the way they smell, or they have more important things to do, I’ve learned to just stop yelling and flush it myself..saves so much stress and my throat!
3. You Will Give Many Baths! While the normal person is able to give their child a bath a day, as part of their bed time routine…not with boys! Be prepared for 2-3 baths a day…not just because of the dirt, but also because of the stink! And be prepared for drenching splashes, lots of “non-bathtub toys”, soaked floors and lots and lots of towel laundry (cause heaven forbid they use them more than once)!
Farts Are Funny!
4. Farts Are Funny! You always think, I will have polite well-behaved boys, well boys will be boys…and you will learn to laugh at them. The best ones are the laughing so hard they run away farting as they go…that gets the whole house laughing. I do have to remind them that it is not polite at all times, but then the laughs erupt again, and well, you just roll with it or loose your mind!
5. Be Prepared To Have A Heart Attack! Or Two Or Three! Boy are well, rough..they will make your heart stop more than one time in a day. I’m not talking tripping over shoe laces and falling two feet..I’m talking jumping from couch to couch or dangling from the railings on the stairs..or how about the wrestling, oh the wrestling! Just stock up on bandaids and have health insurance, and you will be good! My oldest fractured his leg a week before he turned two and my 10-year-old broke his arm at three..learn to be the rock and not freak out!
6. Learn to Like “Boy” Movies. Very rarely do I ever get to watch a “chick flick” any more…it’s all Rambo, Lethal Weapon, Bad Boys all the time..it’s a good thing I like some of those! I could watch Star Wars and Indy at least once a week..and I do enjoy Pirates and Lord of the Rings as well, which saves grace. 7. Be Prepared For Messes! I used to think I was an organized and clean person until having boys! They are like four tiny tornados! If they get something out be prepared to remind, and remind, and remind to pick it up, or just pick it up yourself. For years now my oldest two have had chores, my 10 & 14-year-old take turns doing floors and dishes…yes you go through a lot of dishes…see #8
You Will See A LOT Of Nudity!
8. You Will Go Though A Lot Of Food! No not just when they are teen either! Every day from the day they are born they will eat you out of house and home. Snacks, lunch, dinner..it doesn’t matter..salads, meat, sweets..that doesn’t matter either. If it’s food…they. will. eat. it!
9. You Will See A LOT Of Nudity! Boys love to be naked, I’m not sure the reasoning, but be prepared for gun holsters and underwear. I thank goodness I taught them to not be completely nude when they were little, but the underwear battle rages on…I’ve even seen my BIL (who is now 20) walking around in his undies…they really just don’t care!
10. Be Prepared For Guns, Lots and Lots of Guns! Toy guns, finger guns, bread guns, and yes even real guns! I have never been a gun fan, but somehow I ended up marrying a hunter..sigh…my oldest got a pellet gun for his 11th birthday, and a bb gun this year..I know if we lived in the country where they could hunt all the time, there would be so much more. Until then we have stock in Nerf and Teck Recon…not to mention like I said all the “guns” made from other things.
11. Video Games Are Life. Now I love video games just as much as the next person. I can still remember getting our first Nintendo NES when it came out. But there is a limit to play..not with boys! We have two Wii’s, two DSi’s, my original NES, PS 1, 2 and 3…needless to say they have quite a bit to play on. They would play every second of every day if I let them…there favorite..of course is…war games…shooting…go figure!
12. You Go Through A LOT of Blue Jeans and Shoes! TAKE STOCK NOW!! You will go through many many jeans and shoes…I’m still not sure to this day how they ruin a pair sooo fast. The jeans get holes in the knees, bottom gets torn (from stepping on them, cause lets face it sagging is cool…not!) even by the bottom of the front pockets…I mean…wtf are they doing?! The shoes, the sole of the heel goes, and the toe holes start..I buy shoe that are slightly bigger to know there is room to grow, so I’m not sure what the deal is there…Were not parents that will go out and buy 5-6 pairs of shoes at the beginning of the year…we just can’t afford it, but they do get two…and then by mid-year they need more (actually it’s by mid-semester).

Mustaphas Mediterranian Preserved Lemon Confit – Mustapha’s Mediterranean uses Beldi lemons, which have been the preferred lemon of choice in Morocco for hundreds of years. At first, I thought it was a lemon preserve, but it’s not sweet like a preserve, it has more tang.
Mediterranean Gourmet Ras-el-hanout blend – A traditional Moroccan spice blend consisting of cardamom, cinnamon, clove, cumin, nutmeg, and more. It can be used as a meat rub, a flavoring for rice and couscous, or added to anything that calls for a little kick.
Sultan Sardines in Oil – Morocco is the largest exporter of canned sardines in the world. They go well on sandwiches or couscous. But I think I might pass on these..not a huge sea food fan anyways.
Villa Jerada Kefta Rub – A traditional Moroccan spice blend that includes cumin, paprika, morita pepper, mint, coriander, cilantro and cinnamon.
Dip and Scoop Culinary Argan Oil – This is a culinary Argan oil with so many uses… from dipping bread to grilling veggies, to topping off fish dishes or pouring in soup.
While the sardines probably won’t get touched, the others will be used quite a bit! I love trying out new spices, oils and rubs.

5 Tips for Stress Free Family Traveling This Summer

Summer for a lot of families mean travel, whether it’s for beach vacation or just visiting family it can be stressful. I have 5 tips to give your summer stress free traveling. 1. Plan. If you know that you will be traveling this summer create a travel binder with checklists so you have everything planned out. From route or flight numbers (tickets) to lists on what to take. Having a list and everything in a neat little package saves time, energy and stress! 2. Pack Early. Don’t wait till the last minute to pack! Have your bags packed at least a week in advance. That way if you realize you forget something (that shouldn’t happen if you create lists, but you never know) you have time to get it done and not stress about your time limit. 3. Let The Kids Help. Yes, I’m sure your saying “but I thought you said stress free..the kids only add stress” well, If you give your kids a print out or hand drawn paper with exactly what to pack, they can at least have their items ready for you to place in the bags neatly…I will post example below 4. Have It Ready. Go over your final check the night before and have them by the door, or packed in your vehicle ready to go (I don’t pack in the car the night before because we live in an apartment and that is just screaming break into me). 5. Don’t Sweat The Small Things. If even after you go through all this and your on your way..you happen to forget the tooth brush because, well they had to brush their teeth that morning and you didn’t want to buy brushes just for the trip…there are drug stores everywhere just go purchase one. It’s nothing to freak out about. Things will happen all you can do is breath and calmly handle it. I hope these tips help you have a stress free family vacation this summer!
