Whether it’s video games, television or even smoking, there are lots of different habits that we get into which are generally perceived as unproductive and a complete waste of time. However, look past the negativity and you’ll find that each of those habits does have a productive silver lining behind it.
For instance, video games can be considered a social activity if you enjoy it with friends. Television can also be educational if you watch the right content. Even smoking can be considered something that offers you positive benefits, such as having a way to talk to others in the workplace during breaks or even having a way to calm yourself down after a stressful day. Of course, we obviously can’t ignore the health effects of something like smoking, and even video games to a lesser extent. However, we also can’t ignore that there’s a reason why we developed those bad habits in the first place.
Finding the root of your good and bad habits
Once you start to think about your bad habits in a positive light, you’re going to start looking at them differently. For instance, if the positives you get from smoking don’t outweigh the negatives, then it’s a good idea to look for a service such as a women’s addiction treatment center to help you recover from it. Once you start thinking about the possibilities and positives of quitting an addiction, you’ll be more motivated to do it.
However, you also need to balance this with your existing good habits. For instance, if you consider that your gym-going lifestyle is very healthy for your body, you also need to consider how much time it takes off your day and the opportunities that you miss from doing it. Yes, going to the gym is a far better positive habit than it is a negative one, but if you’re going every single day then you could be ruining your health in the long run by overworking your body. There are also other opportunities that you could use to get exercise and socialize, such as going for a job with a friend or working out at home with your partner instead of the gym.
In short, it’s important to consider both the positives and negatives of your good and bad habits and balance them accordingly.

Set in a Pennsylvania neighborhood, the series stars Lauren Graham, James Van Der Beek and Isabella Crovetti as the Hauntley family, friendly vampires who have recently moved from their home in Transylvania. The stories follow Vampirina (aka “Vee”) as she faces the joys and trials of being the new kid in town including making friends and attending a new school in the human world. Along the way, Vee learns that it may be easier to blend in with her peers, but it’s more valuable to celebrate the qualities that make each individual unique.

My husband and I just love Andrea Bocelli. His tenor voice is just so soothing, he always chooses the perfect talent to accompany him. This is why I was so excited about his new Album Cinema! One thing I love about the CD is that Bocelli recorded his songs in five different languages: Italian, French, Spanish, English and Sicilian. That talent I was talking about…in this album he has partnered with Arianna Grande, Nicole Scherzinger & Veronica Berti.
Bocelli always puts his own spin his songs and this is another one of the things I love about this album! He did this with some of the classic hits from the movies. It’s the same songs we already know and love just done with Bocelli’s magical spin that makes me love it even more.
Cinema features a collection of movie songs etched in the culture and hearts of several generations including epic theme songs featured in films such as “Doctor Zhivago”, “Love Story”, “The Godfather”, “Life is Beautiful”, “Gladiator”, “The Postman”, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and many more, as well as popular songs from stage musicals, immortalised by their film versions, such as “West Side Story” and “Evita.”
My favorite song…even though its so hard to pick a favorite…was the E PIU’ TI PENSO duet with Ariana Grande. It was simply stunning and left me wanting more of them together.

I’ve recently heard about this peer-to-peer car rental network, called Turo, where some of the renters will leave their CDs, custom playlist or an aux cord for their rentee to enjoy! I listen to just about anything…I say just about because I do draw lines…So someone leaving me their CDs or playlist would be an adventure all in its own! New car, new songs, new trip…LETS GO! Would you rent a car from a peer-to-peer service?

The Walt Disney Studios and Disney Citizenship, in collaboration with XPRIZE, announced the winners of the DISNEY CREATE TOMORROWLAND & XPRIZE CHALLENGE. Kids between the ages of 8 and 17 were asked to imagine themselves in the future and report back about one new technology that is positively affecting humanity.
A panel of XPRIZE judges reviewed submissions and selected six winners, three from the Junior Division (8-12 years old) and three from the Senior Division (13-17 years old). Challenge submissions were scored based on originality, creativity and presentation. The winners and their ideas are as follows:
Gabrielle Nafie, age 9, of New York, New York, envisioned a robotic origami bee called a bee origamibot. These tiny robots are activated by sunlight, function like real bees by pollinating plants vital to our survival and offset the global decline of the actual insect.
Maxwell Fung, age 11, of North Syracuse, New York, imagined a world with no pain thanks to the invention of the pain-blocking nanobot. These teeny metal bots are administered orally prior to surgery to inhibit nerve endings from transferring chemicals that induce pain. The nanobots are removed through the kidneys, result in little to no side effects and are non-addictive.
Jason Jackrel, age 12, of North Bellmore, New York, invented the hydrogen-powered scooter, the preferred transportation of the future. By utilizing hydrogen, which emits water, instead of fossil fuels, the hydrogen-powered scooter eliminates C02 emissions.
Clarissa Katko, age 15, of Dansville, Michigan, developed a cure for cancer through genetic therapy. By harnessing the genetic makeup of mole rats, whose genes have a high resistance to runway cell growth, humanity will be able to eradicate cancer and extend life expectancy.
Adrianne Camero, age 15, of Miami, Florida, devised the Magnēs Lithos Chair, a more efficient and adaptable alternative to the wheelchair. The Magnēs Lithos Chair utilizes the Earth’s electromagnetic field to levitate and is maneuvered by the user’s mind.
Natalie Cummings, age 16, of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, tapped into the science of Mother Nature to create artificial trees with leaves that cleanse the air of C02 atexponential rates while also capturing solar energy to power neighboring homes.
“We are thrilled to be able to recognize the talents and imagination of these extraordinary young people,” said Sean Bailey, President, Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production. “The submissions showed an incredible and imaginative vision of the future, and through them, they have brought to life the same spirit and optimism that inspired us to make the film ‘Tomorrowland.’”
“The inventiveness and dexterity showcased in the submissions we received solidify that innovation can originate from anyone if given the opportunity,” said Trish Halamandaris, senior vice president marketing & communications at XPRIZE. “The Create Tomorrowland XPRIZE Challenge tasked young innovators to imagine the future and the outcome was a bright, healthy and creative tomorrow.”
Beginning in June, the six winners will have a once–in-a-lifetime mentorship experience with a leader in their area of interest. In addition, each winner will receive a $3,000 check, a 3D Printer from 3D Systems, an annual subscription to Tales2Go® and registration for FIRST® LEGO® League for the competition season 2015-2016 in the U.S.
Supporting XPRIZE Partners include FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), 3D Systems, IMAX Corporation, Tales2Go® and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
