Now you can bet the anxiety was high in the meeting room..we sat there for what seemed like a year, but in reality was only like 20 minutes. Who wouldn’t get excited about meeting Kevin Costner, and talking movies!?

Finally, there he was, walking into the room, sunglasses on and all…he sat down, commented on how he thought he would have some help (since he was the only one at the long interview table)…
There’s nothing more important and more demanding than a room full of mommies
Then made sure to say good morning before we started with all the questions..
The most rewarding part about McFarland is that he doesn’t plan his life so much to the point that he misses something like McFarland, a little story about Latinos and, a community that he actually participated against in high school…He lived in Visalia, up in the central valley…so the important thing for him was that, he was able to participate in this movie and highlight a culture that we see all the time, driving down our highways, looking off to the left and right, and yet somehow we just keep driving…
Filming McFarland was a real joy for him, so that he can highlight this little town..
There’s little McFarland’s everywhere in America, you know, I like that.
Being a part of McFarland was a very important part of his filmography.
Mr. Costner didn’t have to do much training for the roll..he hates to run, so that’s why he enjoyed being the coach…He ran once with them, but as you will see in the film, he quit. Being a sport that he didn’t know about (he played baseball) he had to try to educate himself, and coach without facilities, which most of the schools he played against probably didn’t have anyways. The script really gave him the opportunities to be resourceful and make the movie more authentic.
There was so much more about this movie than the finish line
Then a little comedy insued..the question was supposed to be “How much time did you spend with Jim White”..well Mr. Costner heard “How much time did you spend with Jim’s Wife” quite a difference!
How much time did I spend with his wife?…Well, this is a mommy blog I guess.
He’s so down to earth and a real genuine guy who helps you to feel comfortable. He met up with Mr. White before shooting and he would come to the set to see everything…Mr. Costner would glean things off of him.
As you may notice, Mr. Costner tends to like to work with sports movies…acting in movies such as Bull Durham, Field Of Dreams, For The Love Of The Game, Draft Day, & Tin Cup to name a few..but you might be surprised to know that he turns down a lot of them. One thing I’ve noticed about his movies, and he does state, that he prefers to work with the movies that are less about sports and more about the stories behind it.
The ones that try to make a wall-to-wall sports movie might as well make a documentary or watch that on ESPN.
There are so many stories behind the sports in this movie, Mr Costner talks about Maria Bello, and her honest portrayal about being shipped around because of her husband into a community that maybe didn’t look like it was gonna be so much fun.
Have you ever moved somewhere where you initially thought this would be a horrible place for your family?
But, you know, the women in our lives, are the ones that kind of almost make everything possible to come home to. For as impossible as everything it outside, to be able to come home and have your partner stand for you, uh, I know my wife stood for me when I decided that I would make Black or White.
Let’s get a little side tracked…Anybody seen Black or White?
Go see it if you haven’t!!
He made Black or White because we’re living in this time where we don’t understand how to talk with each other, and things get said in that movie that are things that after you watch the movie, you’ll wish you would’ve said.
Okay, back to McFarland! A special element in the movie was that his daughter sings in the movie. When asked about it, you could see him beaming..a proud daddy sitting up there.
When the directors and producers got the script, they knew they wanted Mr. Costner to play Jim White. The part just fit. During the movie, as you will see, Jim White becomes, sort of, a second father to the 7 boys…we asked Mr. Costner if the same thing happen with him and the 7 boys, and he said, he didn’t try to be, but knew he was in that position where it could happen..the more filming that went on the more comfortable they got with each other and the boys would go to him to talk about anything…
And then the more comfortable they began, they wanted to know about all the girls I kissed. And, uh, of course I told them if you want to keep kissing girls, the best way to do that is to not talk about it.
With a lot of emotions running throughout the movie, it would be hard to narrow down one moment that was more emotional than the other…but Mr. Costner stated that his emotional moment was right before the last race..Listen to Mr. Costner talk about his most emotional moment in the movie…

So an emotional thing for me always is, I hope somebody talks to my sons or daughters that way should I not be around, about what’s possible.
Through the whole interview, he was real, told us like it was..you can tell he’s very proud of this movie and hope it touches others like it touched him. I know it touched all of us, and we are all excited to go see it again.

Sena learned the news from Steelers defensive end BRETT KEISEL during a surprise on-field visit before the January 3 Steelers-Ravens playoff game. On February 1, he will hand the game ball to a game official moments before kick off of Super Bowl XLIX.
Thousands of young fans nationwide entered the NFL PLAY 60 Super Bowl Contest online at NFLRUSH.com, the NFL’s official website for kids. To be eligible, Sena pledged to be active for 60 minutes a day and submitted a video where he spoke about why he is “passionate about eating healthy and playing outside.” Sena also participated in video interviews and ultimately received the most votes among three finalists on NFLRUSH.com. Sena, 12, plays football and golf. “I started playing football and can’t stop. It’s just an addicting game,” he said in his interview. An avid Notre Dame fan and an advocate for health since he was in elementary school, Sena participates in campaigns including Fuel Up to Play 60 and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Sena established Fuel Up to Play 60 clubs in both his elementary and middle school and has acquired grants to grow gardens in his community.
In addition to his trip to the Steelers game, Sena will travel to Los Angeles, Calif. prior to Super Bowl XLIX and spend time at NFL Network for a behind-the-scenes studio experience. During the week leading up to Super Bowl XLIX, Sena will visit NFL Experience Engineered by GMC – the epicenter for NFL fans in Arizona during Super Bowl week and attend Super Bowl XLIX Media Day Fueled by Gatorade at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, Ariz.
“I really think that being a super kid doesn’t limit you to playing for 60 minutes and eating healthy, but also giving as much effort as you can in school and academics, as well as being nice to others,” said Sena, who lives in Orlando, Fl.
The two other NFL PLAY 60 Super Bowl Contest finalists, Devlyn Williams, 11, from Mississippi, and Zac Ventola, 7, from Massachusetts, will receive NFL PLAY 60 prize packs and two tickets to a 2015 regular season game.

Once your little one is well acquainted with solids and is at least six months old, it’s time to introduce new tastes and textures to her palette. Continue to follow your baby’s cues. Go at her pace and do not move beyond simple solids before she’s ready.
When trying new flavors, gentle persistence may be necessary. Never, ever force feed your little one, but keep in mind that it often takes five or more tries before a baby takes to a new food. The more flavors you introduce, the more adventurous his palette will be later.
While still avoiding added salt and excess sugar, you can begin incorporating fresh herbs or mild spices to baby food, watching carefully for adverse or allergic reactions.
After introducing your baby to fruits and vegetables, you can begin serving mixtures. With so many fruits and vegetables to choose from, the possibilities for tasty combinations are endless.
No-Cook Tropical Fruits
2 Kiwifruit, peeled and quartered
1 papaya, peeled, seeded, and chopped
1 ripe banana, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
Place fruit in a food processor; process until smooth.
Yield; 2 cups or 8 (1/4 cup) servings
Apples, Pears, & Plums
2 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and quartered
1 large golden delicious apple, peeled, cored, and quartered
2 plums, peeled, halved and pitted
Place pear, and apple in a vegetable steamer. Steam covered for 8 minutes. Add plums; cover and steam and additional 4 minutes or until all fruit is tender.
Place fruit in a food processor; process until smooth.
Yield; 2 cups or 8 (1/4 cup) servings
Blueberry Banana Yogurt
1 cup blueberries
1 whole banana
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons wheat germ
Use 1 cup of your already made blueberry puree OR Microwave the blueberries just until the juices start to run, about 30 seconds. Place the banana, yogurt and blueberries in a blender and puree until smooth.
