Week 1 On Nutrisystem #NSNation

A Personal Journey: My First Week on Nutrisystem

Embarking on a weight loss journey is never easy. Last week marked my first week on the acclaimed Nutrisystem program, a renowned diet plan that promises a guaranteed weight loss of 5lbs if you diligently follow all the instructions of the strict plan. As a blogger for Nutrisystem, I received a 28-day supply of food, including the Fast5 program designed to jump-start my weight loss journey.

Inside the Fast5 Kit: What’s on the Menu?

In my Fast5 kit, I received a week’s worth of meals: 7 breakfasts, 7 Energi-ZING Shakes, 7 lunches, 7 Craving Crusher Shakes, and 7 dinners. In addition to this, I was required to add in 4 or more servings of 1c raw veggies or 1/2 cooked veggies per meal.

Truth be told, the vegetable part was the hardest for me! I’ve never really eaten anything apart from basic veggies like corn, green beans, peas, lettuce, carrots, broccoli, spinach, tomato, and cucumber. So, incorporating a variety of veggies into my meals was a challenge. Nevertheless, I persevered, and although I saw more carrots than I would have liked, I managed to stick to the plan.

Taste Test: Evaluating the Fast5 Food

As far as taste goes, the Fast5 food was pretty decent for the most part. There were a few dishes I didn’t particularly enjoy, but I ate them nonetheless. A few of my favorites were the Banana Nut Muffin, Chocolate Carmel Bar, Chili w/ Beans, and the Flatbread Pizza.

When it came to incorporating veggies into my meals, I didn’t get too creative. However, I did add some tomatoes on top of my flatbread pizza, which was a tasty addition. Mostly, I just added a side of carrots to each snack, lunch, and dinner. As I progress into the 28-day program, I hope to get more creative with my veggie inclusions.

Challenges Encountered: Adapting to the Nutrisystem Lifestyle

One hurdle I faced was getting used to eating regularly. I’m not one for breakfast or morning snacks, and I tend to eat unhealthy food for lunch, like a sandwich and too many chips. The Fast5 program is designed to reset your body and reshape your eating habits, and I must admit, it took a few days for me to adjust.

I initially felt lightheaded and weak due to the low-calorie diet, but after a few days, my body started to adapt. I started feeling better and fuller, and my cravings began to lessen. However, I did have a minor slip-up during a family BBQ, but I quickly got back on track.

Results Achieved: Week 1 on Nutrisystem

After my first week on Nutrisystem, I was thrilled to see that I’d lost 7lbs! Despite a few initial challenges and a small cheat day, I managed to lose more than the guaranteed 5lbs, leaving me excited for the next three months.

As I move forward, I look forward to diversifying my meals with a wide array of foods, including 4 PowerFuels like cheese, eggs, fish, nuts, or yogurt, 3 Smart Carbs like whole wheat rolls or crackers, fruits, or pasta, Unlimited Veggies, and 3 Extras like low-sodium condiments, dressings, and marinades.

My motivation to continue remains strong. I want to set a good example for my kids and finally look in the mirror and like what I see. So, here’s to a healthier me, thanks to Nutrisystem!

Dealing with Hunger and Cravings

One of the most common concerns about starting a new diet plan is dealing with hunger and cravings. Nutrisystem addresses this by allowing you to eat six times a day. The meals and snacks are designed to keep you feeling full and satisfied. The Craving Crusher Shakes were particularly useful for those moments when I felt the urge to snack on something unhealthy. They are packed with protein and fiber, which help curb hunger and keep you feeling full for longer.

Learning to Love Veggies

As I mentioned previously, incorporating more veggies into my meals was a challenge. However, I quickly learned that vegetables are not only healthy but can also be delicious and satisfying. I experimented with different ways to prepare them, like roasting, grilling, and steaming, and discovered new flavors and textures that I enjoyed. This was a valuable lesson in expanding my food choices and making healthier decisions.

Staying Motivated and Committed

Starting a new diet can be tough, especially during the first week. It’s easy to feel discouraged or impatient. But seeing the results after my first week on Nutrisystem was incredibly motivating. Losing 7lbs was a great achievement, and it gave me the confidence to continue with the program. I also found the online community and support from Nutrisystem very helpful in staying committed to my weight loss journey.

Planning for the Future

As I continue with the Nutrisystem program, I’m excited to try new meals and snacks, and find new ways to incorporate veggies into my diet. I’m also looking forward to learning more about nutrition and healthy eating, and applying these lessons to my everyday life.
