Bunny's first Spring

A Story of Rebirth and Hope

In Bunny’s First Spring, winter is portrayed as a dark, gray, and bleak period, but the arrival of Spring symbolizes God’s promise of life renewed. The bestselling author, Sally Lloyd-Jones, along with the illustrator, David McPhail, celebrates Spring as a season of rebirth in this delightful picture book.

The story revolves around a bunny, born in the Spring, who sees the world as green, new, full of hope. But as the seasons change, the bunny becomes worried that the earth may be dying. However, nature reassures him of something more.

Visual Delight and Inspirational Text

David McPhail’s whimsical illustrations beautifully reflect the world around us, making the book a visual delight. Lloyd-Jones’ inspirational text prompts readers to appreciate the changing seasons and the miracle of nature’s rebirth.

Emotions and Observations

This emotionally rich story follows a charming baby bunny as he experiences the seasonal changes in his environment throughout his first year of life. The book uses lyrical, soothing prose to follow the brown bunny through the four seasons, observing the changes in nature.

  • The Shocking Truth About Pangolin Conservation: Why Jeff Flocken Says We’re Measuring Everything Wrong

While most people have never heard of them, Jon Favreau the director of Disney’s “The Jungle Book” is one of those people who just think pangolins are the coolest critters out there. Jon even included one in the movie…you’ll meet him not long after you meet Baloo, & provide comic relief during a particular scene in the movie. During my recent trip to L.A. for the #JungleBookEvent, we were educated about the critically endangered Pangolin. Jeffrey Flocken, who is the North American Regional Director for the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), shared details about this rarely heard of animal, why they are so endangered, & how we can help to conserve & protect this creature from extinction.

    What is a Pangolin?
“Pangolins are very little known and incredibly awesome animals…They are a mammal, unique to their taxonomy branch, and there is no close relative… they are under a tremendous amount of pressure, experiencing extinction throughout its range and it’s because it’s being captured for the wildlife trade, in most cases illegally, although still legally in many cases.”
Why are they so critically endangered?
Their meat is considered a delicacy throughout Asia, particularly in China. Their scales are used for various things…they are ground up and used in traditional Asian medicines & can also be found in belts & boots.
6 Facts you need to know!
There are eight different species of Pangolins. Four in Asia and Four in Africa
Pangolins are so endangered, they are very likely to become extinct in our lifetime unless we do something to prevent it.
Pangolins are solitary, nocturnal animals…so not much is known about them or how many are truly left in the wild.
There has never been a successful breeding program in captivity.
It’s almost impossible to keep them alive once they’ve been taken from the wild.
The only zoo in North America to currently house a pangolin is the San Diego Zoo.

International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) is working to try to set up protection so that the animals can no longer be traded legally, which will also help stop the illegal trade. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) issued their 90 day finding on the pangolin petition on March 16th. IFAW got a positive finding, which means it will go through the full process to determine if pangolins warrant “Endangered” protection. IFAW is asking for the public to sign a petition in support of protecting the pangolins. While we wait for this petition, please check out this page for more information on protecting the pangolins.

  • Minky Chic Baby Blanket Review & Giveaway

A Special Thank You to Minky Chic for providing a product to facilitate my review! When it comes to my babies I love to get things that are silky and adorable. And nothing is more silky and adorable than baby blankets! And I can never have too many! I was recently given the opportunity to review a super silky minky & satin blanket from Minky Chic! Minky Chic is a company of love, a love of everything plush! Minky Chic is a one-woman, home-based business. All items are handmade in my personal studio. I am a perfectionist and strive very hard to make sure all blankets meet my own high standards as well as those of my consumers. As a mother myself I know how important baby blankets in particular can be. Security blankets are a wonderful part of childhood, providing a sense of ownership and safety in a nice warm and very soft package. After making my first minky blanket I became fascinated with the fabric. I began researching it’s history and found out that minky fabric was first used to make mostly stuffed animals, changing pad covers and shopping cart seat covers. Then came the blankets and its popularity soared. It has created a rage in all markets and is much loved by all who have discovered it. At Minky Chic I provide a wide assortment of minky products for all ages. Minky blankets and pillows are great additions to any living room, family room or bedroom. Minky blankets are also great additions to a teenagers room or college dorm room. Everyone can find a blanket they’ll love at Minky Chic. From the moment it came out of the shipping box I knew I was in love! Not only do they stitch with love, but they pack it with love too! The blanket came wrapped in tissue paper, and a satin ribbon. I love hand made items just because you know there was love put behind it…it wasn’t machine made, it was made by someones hands, and you know they take pride in their work, the Minky Chic blanket is no exception! Silky satin on one side, soft minky fabric on the other and trimmed in silk makes this blanket super cuddly! And the 30×40 size makes it big enough to last the whole first year and possible beyond (depending on your child’s size). I choose a brown color because it is a neutral and it can go with any gender or theme! Being a tad thicker, it is unusually cool to the touch, but warms nicely to match your little ones temperature. This satin will soften more and more over time as washed and yet will hold up well over multiple washings. All minkys are made of 100% Polyester making them both hypoallergenic and fade resistant. Minky blankets are far superior to fleece and even cotton as fibers will not break down over time with multiple washings. I love this blanket and am excited to share Minky Chic with you! Minky Chic has so many designs & styles to choose from! And even if you don’t like the satin, they have two sided minky blankets to choose from! They also do embroidery, pillows & pet products!
