I’m your pretty typical SAHM…I keep it simple when it comes to hair, makeup and attire…but every once and a while I like to dress nice, fix my hair and do my full makeup routine. My hair is pretty wavy and THICK! It’s easy to straighten, but when it comes to curling it, my hair tends to fall flat..or well..stay wavy & frizzy, so most of the time you will catch me with my hair up in a bun or pony tail.
I was able to try out the Kiss InstaWave, and I have to admit I was a little afraid to try it..its nothing like what I’m used to using. KISS InstaWave is a fully automatic tangle-free curler that instantly creates beautiful curls. The first thing you will notice is the curling rod with 5 prongs on the bottom making it look more like a torture device rather then a hair tool. It has two settings low & high and a button to spin the curling rod right or left.
After about 10 minutes I was ready to rock my curls!
You can create loose to tight curls depending on how long you leave your hair wrapped on the curling rod. Another thing that is great about the InstaWave is that if you are forgetful or, maybe get distracted like so many of us moms do the InstaWave automatically shuts off after 90 minutes…I absolutely love the InstaWave! I can’t wait to create my holiday looks with it.
How to Curl:
Hold InstaWave vertically
Simply place section of hair on the InstaWave curling rod

Before we had the opportunity to walk the red carpet at “The Jungle Book” world premiere, we had the opportunity to interview Jon Favreau & Neel Sethi & talk auditions, cow bell & more!
So like most we wondered where the idea to do the movie came from…Jon was working on a project called “Magic Kingdom”, and at the same time Disney began doing films like Cinderella, Maleficent, Alice & Pirates all being exploited as their own franchises so they weren’t moving forward with the Magic Kingdom project, but Jon still wanted to do something with live humans but a set that you’re not going to build, but work with special effects instead. He met with Rob Legato to talk visual effects and discuss what you could do with them. Not long after that he got a call from Disney to come in and because Alan Horn loves the Jungle Book they wanted to explore what could happen. Jon wanted to keep it photo real but still give it a dream like quality so you see the whole thing through kid’s eyes. Play with scale a bit and have fun with it.
We also wondered how he knew when he found his Mowgli.
“I can’t take credit for this talented young man. He wasn’t experienced but he had a quality and being a Father, I recognized it, it was confidence. He was a full formed version of himself and so we kind of got who he was very quick, and I think the fact that he wasn’t a kid who was out there looking for acting jobs made it fun for him. It didn’t feel like he was concerned about failing or concerned about getting the part or not.”
What was it like for Neel to beat out 2000 other children for the part?
“2 weeks later, like we flew to LA and we were in the Hotel. The Producer called and were like flipping and jumping and we were so happy. We went out and got my favorite food.”
So what does a new actor get to eat to celebrate? Lobster Ravioli of course!
You might wonder how he acted without having the animal there to interact with…we had the same thoughts. The Jim Henson puppeteers created puppets for him to interact with and Neel had this to say:
“I would just make it normal that it’s not a puppet. It’s like a Bear or a Panther. That’s Baloo. Hi Baloo. And then instead of seeing a Puppet, I would see it like that. That made it a lot easier and sometimes they made them look like Baloo and that helped a lot, and Jon actually got into the puppet sometimes and that helped me interact with him.”
Neel attended a traditional school and had finished 5th grade when he auditioned. So when he went back to traditional school, it was like he never left, he just slipped back in..
“it was just normal again and everybody thought it was cool for like a week and then like all right, enough.”
Have you ever wondered if an actor or director keeps something from a movie they are working on? I know I have! Apparently Harrison Ford kept something from was “Cowboys and Aliens”…He and Daniel Craig took their horses! Well on this movie…Jon said he did keep something and as he was talking we all knew exactly where he was going with it!
“The one I took from this was, um, if you notice when he goes into King Louis, the Temple where King Louis is…”
At this point we all knew! The Cowbell! Keep an eye out for it when you watch this weekend!
“A little more Cowbell.”
What makes a great movie for me, is something that can stand the test of time and can entertain both young and old. Jon Favreau feels the same…
“A great thrill for me is to show the kids and the whole family what we’ve been doing and then you get your first sense by looking in their eyes. And sometimes you show them versions that are almost done because you know their taste and — and I know it from the perspective of me. I’m 49. I have 3 kids that are different ages. Each one of them seeing how scary you could make it, see when they’re scared but they like it, see when they’re laughing. See the jokes that they get or don’t get. Can you make one for the 9 year old that isn’t boring to the 14 year old, and then of course, you know, for my age as well.”
This film has it all…action, adventure, comedy, thrill & heart. You could tell that Jon is proud of this movie as he was beaming through the whole interview. Neel was just trying to take it all in…I don’t think it’s easy to go from a kid next door to the star in a huge Disney blockbuster!

Continuing with our healthy new year lets talk sugar! This is a post I found on MyFitnessPal & thought that it was a great article to share with you all.
If you’re looking to cut back on sugar, here are 15 simple hacks for slashing the sweet stuff from your diet:
Go natural. Eat natural sources of sugar over added sugars. Added sugars like honey, agave, and high fructose corn syrup contain empty calories meaning they have zero nutritional value. Fill up on fresh fruit and vegetables instead because they contain fiber that slows the rate of absorption of carbohydrates along with improving cholesterol levels, digestion, and satiety to help with weight loss.
Pick low sugar produce. If you’re aiming to eat less sugar overall, pick the fruits and veggies with the lowest sugar load like lemons, limes, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, leafy greens, mushrooms, green beans, mushrooms, and zucchini. Essentially all veggies are low in sugar. To compare, 1 cup raspberries contains 5 grams of sugar, 1 cup black beans contains less than 1 gram of sugar, and a medium red potato contains less than 3 grams of sugar. Keep in mind, low sugar intake doesn’t necessarily mean low carbohydrate.
Know your portions. Following a low sugar diet requires some diligence in knowing how much you should be eating. In general, most people should consume 2 fruits (or 2 cups) and at least 3 cups of veggies per day. On average 1 serving of fruit contains 15 grams of sugar. Ideally, try to space out your servings so that you aren’t getting a big sugar rush all at once.
Eat whole and fresh. Limit fruit juices and dried fruit if you are watching the sugar intake. Generally speaking, just 4 fluid ounces (1/2 cup or 120mL) of 100% fruit juice and ¼ cup unsweetened dried fruit is equivalent to 1 piece or 1 cup of fresh, whole fruit.
Learn the label lingo. The food label doesn’t differentiate between added and natural sugars (though it may in the future), instead it lumps them all together. To get natural sugar sources check the ingredient list to know if there are any added sugars in the product. Sugar lurks behind these words in the ingredient list: molasses, organic cane sugar, fruit juice concentrate, malt sugar, corn syrup, honey, syrup, and words ending in “ose” dextrose, lactose, maltose, fructose, glucose, sucrose. Here’s a more thorough list of sugar’s most common nicknames.
Compare products. Looking for the lowest sugar foods? Check the nutrition label to see which product is lowest in sugar. Don’t be fooled by “low sugar” or “diet foods” as they are often packed with artificial sugars, which is another blog for another day. Bottom line: eat real “natural” convenience foods lowest in added sugar.
Track it! Logging your food in MyFitnessPal can help with staying on top of your sugar intake and goals so that you become aware of how much sugar you are really ingesting since they can sure add up fast.
Fill up on healthy fats. Eat more nuts, seeds, avocados, olives, and salmon. Not only are these foods heart healthy and help with blood sugar control, healthy fats will displace excess sugar from the diet and keep the body satisfied for longer so you are less likely to have energy dips between meals prompting a quick sugar fix.
Set boundaries on the sweet tooth. Do you have a mean sweet tooth? Set limits on when and how you’re going to enjoy your sweets. Maybe you have ice cream once per week or possibly you’ll include a dark chocolate square after dinner nightly? Setting boundaries around what sweet treats are worth the indulgence, when is appropriate to enjoy them and how much you can enjoy will keep you from reaching in the office candy jar out of habit.
Eat less packaged food. Foods in their whole form are going to be your best bet when it comes to lowering your sugar intake. According to the New York Times, 75% of packaged foods in the U.S. contain added sugar, so you can simplify your sugar doses by keeping these to a minimum.
Choose unsweetened dairy. Opt for plain milk and yogurt, and no, vanilla isn’t plain! While there are naturally occurring sugars in milk and yogurt (lactose), many are spiked with sweeteners. So read the labels to get dairy varieties without the sweet stuff, and keep in mind fat-free milk naturally contains more sugar than reduced-fat. Add your own flavor by topping yogurt with chia seeds, blueberries, and cinnamon.
Pump up the protein. Eating more protein will keep you amped. Protein takes longest to digest so you will be less likely to crash if you’re eating good quality proteins every three to four hours.
Beware of sugar bombs. Even healthy foods can have sneaky sources of added sugar. Foods like energy bars, lattes, smoothies, juices, enhanced waters, salad dressing, cereals, tomato sauce, and medications are common culprits.
Lower it gradually. Instead of cutting sugar cold turkey, lower your intakes slowly. If you usually eat sweets after lunch and dinner, start by taking it down to one meal a day.
Clean out the pantry. If you have tempting foods in the kitchen, you might need to do a little pantry detox. Go out for the ice cream sundae instead of bringing a carton it into the house.
